Tonatiuh y María viven una apasionada y violenta relación. Una noche, al calor de una discusión, sufren un aparatoso choque en el auto. Tonatiuh cae en estado de coma, durante su largo sueño recuerda su relación con María. Por un momento despierta y lo único que alcanza a ver es a Alicia, su enfermera, a quien termina incluyendo dentro de sus sueños. Cuando por fin logra despertar del coma, Alicia es atropellada.
